Why Talk for Writing?

Talk for Writing is powerful because it is based on the principles of how children learn. It is powerful because it enables children to imitate the language they need for a particular topic orally before reading and analysing it and then writing their own version.

 

At Wollescote our children need to:

· Be immersed in language

· Be engaged in drama, practical and shared activities

· Have ample opportunities to talk

· Have a clear process of shared, paired and independent practise

 

This is the cycle we follow in delivering Talk for Writing:

 

 

frownTalk for Writing ensures that our children have access to quality authors who promote a range of ambitious vocabulary at a suitable level for each year.  Our teaching cycle of shared, paired and independent allows children to have good models and opportunities for paired activities on the road to high quality independent work.
