Fixtures and Results
Year 5 Netball - Redhill High School
On Thursday 8th March, the Year 5 netball teams were taken the short trip to Redhill school to compete in this years netball competition. The A team had a lot of success winning all but one of their group games by big margins. The B team won one game in a very tough group however did themselves proud having only had a short time to practice. Eventually the A team reached the semi final where we came up against a strong team and unfortunately lost out 1-0. All of the children involved did Wollescote proud on the day and although they were disappointed to lose they did extremely well and all the sports coaches were proud of their efforts.
Cross Country Events
St Josephs - 7/3/18 - The cross country event took place at St. Josephs Primary School. 14 Children took part in the 1km race. All the children did fantastically well as they have never ran over that distance before, with some no realising how hard it was going to be. We had success in the event with Eduards coming 24th in the boys race. The other children were not far behind but all of them should be proud of the effort they put in during the race.
Year 1 SMILE Event- 15th March
On the 15th March, Mrs Petchey and Mr Horton took 10 year 1 pupils to Tipton Sports Academy where they took part in a fantastic event. During the event, the children were offered a new insight to fun, innovative sports that they thoroughly enjoyed. Both Mrs Petchey and Mr Horton enjoyed seeing the children blossom at the event and could see from the children's reactions how much they enjoyed it.
Swimming Gala- Thursday 22nd March
On the 22nd March, Wollescote hosted our half termly swimming gala whre we came up against Amblecote Primary School. On previous occasions Amblecote have been very strong and have been victorious in the swimming galas. However, on this occasion Wollescote stormed to victory! Earning an incredible 120 Points. This shows that the hard work and dedication of the swimming squad has paid off massively. Mr Brookes and Mrs Petchey are so proud of the group for all their efforts in the squad and gala.
On Thursday 29th March, Wollescote gymnasts went to compete at the Dudley Schools Gymnastics Competition. In recent years, Wollescote have only placed near to the bottom. Except for this year, the children ranging from years 1-5 approached the competition prepared, motivated and willing to improve from recent years. Having received the results this week, I am thrilled with their positions. Huge well done from Mrs Petchey to all the gymnasts that represented Wollescote to the best of their ability. I am very proud of your achievements.

Cross Country at Brindley Heath
On Thursday 19th April, Mrs Petchey and Mr Brookes took 11 children to the final cross country race of the year. With the blazing hot sun, all children exceeded our expectations and all completed the race with huge smiles across their faces. Stand out performances from Eduards Gulbis (Year 4) who achieved one of the highest positions we have ever had at Wollescote, coming 10th. Aleema-Mai Ramzan took part in her first cross country and was the fastest girl. We are both immensely proud of you all! Well done.
Tri-Golf at Windsor High School
On Tuesday 15th May, Mr Derrer and Mr Horton took 10 children to the Tri-Golf competition held at Windsor high school. The children worked extremely hard throughout, working well as a team and represented Wollescote Primary to the highest standard. We came first with an overwhelming margain but unfortunately didn't make the Black Country games due to a separate competition held at Hagley (missed out by 15 points). Over two competitions we came second out of seventeen schools.
Year 5 Cricket Competition
On Thursday 24th June, Mr Derrer and Mr Brookes took the year 5 cricket team the short trip to Stourbridge Cricket Club to compete in the annual cricket competition. Eleven schools competed in this year's competition with all the teams split up into three groups with the winners of the groups and a best placed 2nd went through to the semi finals. Unfortunately after a good performance in the first game to win by 7 runs, we lost the second game which meant we finished 2nd in our group on runs scored and didn't progress. Mr Derrer and Mr Brookes would like to say how proud of the team we were with their efforts on the day and in club over the last few weeks. Well Done to all involved.
Year 5 and 6 Outdoor Athletics Competition
On Thursday 28th June, Mrs Petchey and the other coaches attended The Dell Stadium for the 2018 competition. Each child participated in their own individual event and then four children from each year group (boys and girls) took part in a relay. It was a very hot day, and as always the Wollescote girls and boys gave 100% and made us very proud as a school. They demonstrated a positive attitude throughout all their events and were polite to other children from external schools.
BLACK COUNTRY SCHOOL GAMES 2018
Following the athletics yesterday, on Friday 29th June 10 multi skills children from years 1 and 2 and 15 children from years 3 and 4 attended Wolverhampton University. On another sunshine filled day, the children's attitude and commitment to sport was fantastic.
Multi Skills Children - The 10 children won the Dudley Schools Multi Skills Competition back in November 2017 and were therefore invited to attend the BSG held on this day. They represented themselves and Wollescote to the highest standard resulting in an 8th place result.
Change For Life- The children who participated as part of our C4L festival, had an opportunity to participate in a variety of events from boxing, judo, fencing, archery and much more. Their smiles were the epitome of what this event is all about and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I am so proud of all you- Well done!!
Change For Life Festival - Held and Organised by Wollescote's Fine Young Leaders
Huge Well Done to our Young Leaders this year:
- Malaika Hassan
- Aleeza Akhtar
- Maryam Iqbal
- Sachkirat Matharu
- Uzair Moqadas
- Muneeb Raza
- Alina Noor
On this day, the young leaders set up and organised a C4L event for 47 children from both Wollescote and two other schools; Amblecote and Lutley. They were absolutely fantastic- ensuring all children could take part no matter what their needs and have fun. Children that attended suffered from conditions such as visual impairment, wheelchair users and autism and didn't let that stop them.
I am immensely proud of you all! Mrs Petchey.
Year 6 Football Friendly
On Wednesday 18th July, year 6 girls and boys took part in a football match against Rood End Primary School. The girls made a start, committing themselves to the game but sadly lost with a result of 5-0. The boys used that result to make a fantastic start to their game, taking the lead by 3-0 in the first half. In the second half it became a close competition with Rood End pulling the result back to 3-3. At the full time whilst, the children prepared for penalties. They all gave 100% from both schools and made the Wollescote and Rood End staff super proud. They kept everyone of the edge of their seats but Rood End took the win, beating Wollescote 3-2.
