COMPUTING

The Computing Curriculum in Years 1 to 6 is delivered through a progression of units.  The Early Learning Goals are followed to ensure continuity and progression from the Foundation Stage through to the National Curriculum.

  • Computing lessons are taught in mixed ability classes by class teachers
  • Cross-curricular lessons make use of computing skills to support learning in other subjects
  • iPads are used to support learning in lessons across the curriculum

Over the course of the academic year, pupils are taught how to use computers to create, code, communicate and apply e-safety. Using the statutory programmes of study and attainment targets for computing, to underly our programme of study, ensures that learning is progressive throughout the school.  We have a full suite of PC computers, which children use in timetabled sessions to develop their skills in coding and other skills.  At other times, we encourage children to use technology appropriately to support their learning in topic lessons.
